BOOM! Studios Announces Power Rangers: Shattered Grid

No Ranger is safe.

In 2018, Power Rangers will honor its milestone 25th anniversary, and beginning next March, BOOM! Studios will kick off its celebration of the franchise’s incredible legacy with the introduction of Power Rangers: Shattered Grid, the latest thrilling story line from the highly successful comic book publisher.

Power Rangers: Shattered Grid will span across issues of BOOM! Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers comics, and two special one-shot spinoffs. It all kicks off in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25, written by Kyle Higgins and Danielle Di Nicuolo, set for release on March 21, 2018 inside a sealed black polybag to prevent the shocking events inside from being spoiled.

The story line will follow Lord Drakkon – an evil alternate-reality version of Tommy Oliver – who’s returned with a newly reformed deadly army that threatens the existence of every Power Ranger ever. In order to combat the threat, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will join forces with popular faces and teams from all across the franchise’s 25-year history in an event like never seen before.

“Call me sentimental, but I love anniversaries. Over the last two years, I’ve been weaving threads in the pages of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, all leading to the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Power Rangers: Shattered Grid is a massive Power Rangers event that’s both a celebration of the property and also the largest comics story I’ve ever tackled. Lord Drakkon’s plan is so much bigger than our Rangers, our world, and even our universe. The Grid is shattering, every Power Ranger in all of existence is at risk, and it’s going to take more than just the Mighty Morphin team to stand against Drakkon’s armies.” – Kyle Higgins, Writer, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

BOOM! Studios’ second Power Rangers comic series, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers written by Ryan Parrott, will also join the event beginning with Issue #9, set to release in April 2018.

“The key to incorporating Go Go Power Rangers into Power Rangers: Shattered Grid was making the story integral to the event while never losing the personal stakes of the series—and we are doing that in a really exciting way. A fan-favorite Ranger from the future is going to arrive, searching for Drakkon—and end up dividing our team in a very personal way.  Thematically, Go Go has always been about examining the past in order to understand the future—and there’s no clearer way of doing that than smashing them into one another in real time.” – Ryan Parrott, Writer, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers

Below, fans can check out the main cover for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25, which features the Red Ranger’s helmet shattered in the hands of Lord Drakkon. Additional covers will be released in equal quantities featuring the other five Ranger helmets (Blue, Black, Yellow, Pink, Green), plus a chaser variant featuring Lord Drakkon’s helmet.

  1. Love the artwork with all the Rangers can’t wait to see it finalized. Also nice to see a Sentai Ranger

  2. There’s about six different variants of the mmpr team but my question is who is the yellow in the bottom left corner?

    1. In the bottom left, I see the goofy villain team from Power Rangers Turbo. There’s also the gold Ninja Steel Ranger and the Solaris Knight from Mystic Force. Did you mean the bottom right? I see the Yellow Ninja Storm Ranger popping up behind the Crimson Ranger.

    1. maybe they put in kyuranger green to let us know that kyuranger is going to be are 2019 season of the power rangers I think. But 2018 is coming in the next 4 weeks. So we might find out more about it in power morphicon in 2018.

  3. Why are the annoying Gokaiger sentai team, including the annoying Gokai Silver, still there? They should be removed from the Ranger franchise for good, before this new BOOM! Comics would be release next year.

  4. But either way, if only there were 3rd season of Megaforce in the future, so I would finally see Troy & Emma get married 🏩💒💐🗻 a few months after their College Graduation in 2019 and live happily ever after, to really complete their Red & Pink Sky Ranger Love Story. What do you think in an honest opinion?
