New Rejected Power Rangers Movie Goldar Designs

It’s been just over a year since Saban’s Power Rangers movie hit theaters, and for the first time ever, fans can check out rejected Goldar designs.

As the terrifying creation of Rita Repulsa that unleashed havoc on Angel Grove, Goldar took on a very different form in Saban’s Power Rangers movie that fans of the 25-year franchise were accustomed to seeing. While the evildoer was always intended to be a towering, faceless creature that dripped in gold, he went through numerous variations specifically on the design of his headpiece.

All of Goldar’s designs were left faceless as Director Dean Israelite felt the move would make the villain more intimating, and menacing. However, some of the designs (seen below) clearly resemble a more familiar look to the headpiece Goldar sported on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show in 1993.

Other designs remain very different, perhaps explaining why they were rejected.

More concept work shows what Goldar might have looked like with a different headpiece from a full-body perspective. As seen, the monster’s signature wings and weaponry were always intended to be a part of the final product.

The newest designs were created by Alex Cunningham, an entertainment industry designer who’s produced various designs for characters, vehicles, and movie sets. Fans can check out more of Cunningham’s work on his official website by clicking here.

  1. The rejected designs are interesting. If they do a sequel, they should really find a way to give Goldar a face.
