What If The Mighty Morphin Rangers Didn’t Use Dino’s?

For years, fans have become accustomed to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers drawing their appearance from their iconic Dinozords – prehistoric robots resembling five larger-than-life dinosaurs.

But as the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers changed seasons, so did their Zords. Yet the actual Power Rangers suits remained the same.

So what if they didn’t? What if the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers suits changed to resemble the Thunderzords in Season 2, and the Ninjazords in Season 3?

Instagram user @MightyMorphinPowerRangerBoy wondered just that, and used his expansive toy collection, combined with his digital graphic skills, to mock up the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers suits after the powers of the Thunderzords and Ninjazords.

Below, fans can check out how the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers may have looked if they were Thunderzord-inspired.

Obviously, the majority of the new helmets are tough to get used to after we’ve become accustomed to seeing Dinozord-based helmets for nearly three decades.

The Pink Ranger actually isn’t that different.

But nonetheless, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers suits would have looked largely different if they were designed after the Thunderzords.

•The Red Ranger is based off a Red Dragon.
•The Blue Ranger is based off a Unicorn.
•The Black Ranger is based off a Lion.
•The Yellow Ranger is based off a Tiger Griffin.
•The Pink Ranger is based off a Firebird.

And how about the Ninjazords?

Still tough to get used to. The Ninjazords may in fact be tougher to get used to, although the Pink Ranger remains the least visually different. Her teammates? Still barely recognizable.

Tommy’s White Ranger also joins the fray this time, based off legendary his Ninja Falconzord.

•The Red Ranger is based off an Ape.
•The Blue Ranger is based off a Wolf.
•The Black Ranger is based off a Frog.
•The Yellow Ranger is based off a Bear.
•The Pink Ranger is based off a Crane.
•The White Ranger is based off a Falcon.

So what do you think? Thuderzord inspired suits? Ninjazord inspired suits? Maybe it is best the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers suits stuck being Dinozord inspired.

  1. Using Dairanger’s helmets with Zyuranger’s suits in the season 2 might have been somewhat acceptable.

    1. At that point why not just use the Dairanger suits in order to use the ranger footage? With MMPR S2 the zords were still the Dinozords but took on new forms. The MMPR movie had a good idea with the coins on the chest. Too bad the suits were terrible in quality. Could have used those for the show.

  2. Certainly not these, however, it would’ve been cool had they tried something like this but Saban and Fox being as lazy and cheap as they are, of course they didn’t bother

  3. I think with season 2 they would’ve used the gold crown-ish parts of the Dairanger helmets if they did have them match.

  4. Why can’t the artist just use the Dairanger and main Kakuranger suits, instead? Just recolor ninja whit into pink and give Tommy a new shield and helmet that resembled a falcon and that’s it.

    1. Well I think the artist want boundaries. They know about Dairanger/Kakuranger, no point in trying to alter those as they were designed for those zords to begin with. It’s about adapting the Zyuranger suits into it.

  5. I believe we know what the helmets would have looked like had they changed each season to match the new Zords. They’re called Dairanger and Kakuranger.

  6. It’s an interesting idea worth exploring, I will give them that.

The problem here is the artist just composited pictures of the zords onto the helmets. It doesn’t take design cues from the Zyuranger suits though.
