The Hasbro era of Power Rangers is officially underway,
On June 12 2018, Hasbro announced that they have closed on their deal to become the new owner of Power Rangers. The sale is officially complete.
The move gives Hasbro full control over the Power Rangers property including entertainment, toys, games, and all other assets. Hasbro now owns all characters, naming rights, past seasons, and future seasons under the Power Rangers umbrella.
Haim Saban will remain working with Hasbro for the time being in an advisory role.
“Power Rangers will benefit from execution across Hasbro’s Brand Blueprint and distribution through our omni-channel retail relationships globally,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Informed by engaging, multi-screen entertainment, a robust and innovative product line and consumer products opportunities all built on the brand’s strong heritage of teamwork and inclusivity, we see a tremendous future for Power Rangers as part of Hasbro’s brand portfolio.” – Brian Goldner, Hasbro CEO
The move is not expected to have a result on Hasbro’s 2018 financials.
Hasbro first became involved with the Power Rangers brand in February 2018, when they were named the master global toy license to produce products for the franchise moving forward. The first wave of those toys will still hit stores in Spring 2019 for Power Rangers Beast Morphers, the TV show’s upcoming 26th season airing on Nickelodeon.
CEO Brian Goldner has also indicated plans to bring Power Rangers back to movie theaters with brand-new feature films (recap here).
Power Rangers now joins Transformers and My Little Pony as brands owned in full by Hasbro, as they attempt to continue boosting their presence in the entertainment business as a way to fuel toy sales.

PAWTUCKET, R.I.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jun. 12, 2018— Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) today announced it has closed the previously announced acquisition of Saban Properties’ Power Rangers and other Entertainment Assets. The transaction was funded through a combination of cash and stock valued at $522 million.
“Power Rangers will benefit from execution across Hasbro’s Brand Blueprint and distribution through our omni-channel retail relationships globally,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Informed by engaging, multi-screen entertainment, a robust and innovative product line and consumer products opportunities all built on the brand’s strong heritage of teamwork and inclusivity, we see a tremendous future for Power Rangers as part of Hasbro’s brand portfolio.”

The transaction, including intangible amortization expense, is not expected to have a material impact on Hasbro’s 2018 results of operations.

I want that mainstream appeal that Power Rangers once had to return. Cause right now alot of kids don’t even care about Power Rangers.
Alright, but is it true that Saban Brands is shutting down in July? You didn’t mention anything of that in this article, unless I’m missing something.
I don’t mind Hasbro acquiring power rangers as long as power rangers toys continue to release.
OMG, I CAN’T WAIT.
I just hope the Beast Morphers have farting and things falling on characters, like in NS and SNS, I funny once but It gets old and becomes less funny.
