The Red Ranger from Power Rangers Ninja Storm has passed away.
The NZ Herald reported that actor Pua Magasiva, who played Shane Clarke the Red Ranger in 2003, passed away on the morning of May 11, 2019. Magasiva was age 38.
The actor’s body was found dead my police at a house in Wellington, New Zealand.
At this time, the cause of his death is unknown. Police reported no known signs of suspicion surrounding his death. A coroner will be brought in for further examination.
Magasiva is survived by his wife Lizz, and two children.
The actor was also widely known for his role on Shortland Street, a New Zealand based soap opera.
Magasiva joins the small ranks of previous Power Rangers who have passed away, including Thuy Trang who portrayed Trini the original Yellow Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and Peta Rutter who portrayed Udonna the White Ranger on Power Rangers Mystic Force.
Other notable Power Rangers actors to have died include Richard Genelle who portrayed Ernie on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Erik Ray Frank who portrayed David Truehart, the brother of Tommy Oliver, on Power Rangers Zeo, and Edward Albert who portrayed Mr. Collins on Power Rangers Time Force.
Magasiva’s passing caused an immediate outpouring of support from the Power Rangers community, including Pua’s season cast members, other former Power Rangers from various seasons, and Taika Waititi, the director of Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok.
Power Rangers Ninja Storm was the first season to be filmed in New Zealand, and one of the first seasons to air under Disney’s ownership of the brand after acquiring it from Haim Saban in 2002.
Magasiva’s most popular lines in Power Rangers history include: “Power of air!”, which he recited during his morph sequence, and “We may not be Power Rangers, but we still have power”, which he recited during the season’s final battle in the series finale.

It’s so sad to hear the loss of Kiwi former Ninja Storm actor Pua Magasiva. But he will forever be in our thoughts and hearts and last but not least our prayers. Pua will also be safe in God’s memories, as a Kiwi Superhero.

Beast morphers doesn’t have to do this but maybe they can dedicate one their episodes to Pua like Lightspeed rescue did for Bob mattan who played Zordon as his second voice actor and like Time Force did for Thuy Trang. At the end of one of the episodes they can put something like “In loving memory of Pua.” They don’t have to if they can’t I just think it would be a nice way to honor a fellow actor from the series
