Alpha 1 Coming To Power Rangers’ Comics

Before there was Alpha 5, there was…Alpha 1?

BOOM! Studios is getting ready to introduce the very first edition of Zordon’s lovable sidekick in Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers comic book series.

The news was revealed at New York Comic Con 2018, as Alpha 1 takes center stage in writer Ryan Parrott’s upcoming story. Fans can check out the first look at Alpha 1 above, designed by Dan Mora, which was shown for the first time at the comic book publisher’s Power Rangers panel.

For now, not much about this character remains known. Where did it originate from, and how did Alpha 1 eventually become Alpha 5 (if that’s even the case)? Fans will have to stay tuned in 2019 as Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers enters its brand new story arc.

In 2019, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers will offer plenty of exciting, and strange, plot twists. Jason and Trini will fall in love, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will swap their Ranger colors, the origins of the Green Ranger’s Power Coin will be explored, and now, Alpha 1 will enter the fray.

What exactly do all these things have in common? Stay tuned to find out.

The newest story arc, following the departure of the Ranger Slayer and the conclusion of Power Rangers: SHATTERED GRID, will bring back fan-favorite Rita Repulsa as the story’s primary villain. New comic series artist Eleonora Carlini will also be at the helm.

Alpha 1’s introduction is all part of sweeping changes BOOM Studios is making to their Power Rangers comic books, alongside the beginning of a brand new storyline in Marguerrite Bennett’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book series.

The post-SHATTERED GRID storyline, titled “Beyond The Grid”, follows a new team of Rangers – Andros (Red Ranger, Power Rangers In Space), Mike (Magna Defender, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy), Tanya (Yellow Ranger, Power Rangers Zeo), Cam (Green Ranger, Power Rangers Ninja Storm), Ranger Slayer, and Heckyl, the mysterious Talon Ranger now named the Dark Ranger from Power Rangers Dino Charge.

The storyline will also feature the Solar Ranger, a brand new Power Ranger who’s identity still remains a secret. Fans can click here to learn more about the Solar Ranger.
